EXTRA ADDITIONS
As part of implementing more momentum for my course participants, I am this year including:
-A one-to-one online GOAL SETTING session before the course
-Access to an online library of vocal warm-ups, vocal workouts, and jazz exercises.
THE WEEK HAS AN ORGANIC STRUCTURE, MEANING WE VERY MUCH TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE NEEDS AND WISHES OF THE GROUP. SOME MINOR AMENDMENTS TO THE SCHEDULE AND LIVE EVENTS MIGHT THEREFORE TAKE PLACE.
Masterclass: The relationship between singer and pianist
Playing duo becomes a magical experience when both singer and pianist allow for the conversation to flow freely between them whilst together going to look for new routes within the song.
In these sessions, you get to work on your repertoire with highly acclaimed pianist Matt Robinson who specialises in accompanying singers and who has worked with some of the leading vocalists on the European jazz Scene.

Masterclass: Interpretation of Jazz Standards
How do we go about learning a song from the inside and out so that we can fly inside of a song?
Each song from this incredible repertoire is your playground.
This session is all about nurturing creativity and imagination in your approach to some of your favorite songs whilst learning some of the important basics of song structure, functional harmony, and jazz phrasing.

Workshop: Jazz phrasing and story telling
In this session, we'll explore individual expression and interpretation of jazz repertoire. What is the song about? How can you approach the song differently to create different stories with the same song?
We will explore how we can reconstruct and become more playful and conversant with our phrases whilst also experimenting with vocal tone and nuances and how we can practice developing a more expressive and imaginative approach to our songs.

Workshop: Lead the band- Communicate your musical ideas
What is the role of each instrument within the rhythm section? What sounds, grooves, and textures can the drumkit create? What is the relationship between the bass and the melody? What does the pianist expect from us on the bandstand?
In this session, we'll dive deeper into our roles as bandleaders whilst also learning more about each instrument so we can start becoming more creative within this standard setting.
