To sum it up, here are a few things we will be exploring:

 
  • ​Different approaches to a wide range of repertoire mainly including Jazz Standard repertoire. 
  • Ballad feel, Colla Voce, Swing feel, Bossa Nova feel, Straight Feel, Odd time signatures etc...
  • How to approach a lyric and connect with a song.
  • How you develope your own personal sound and expression. 
  • Improvisation, Phrasing and Word Painting.
  • Vocal Ensemble work/Improvisation
  • Free improvisation
  • Vocal Technique, (General vocal technique as well as specifically tailored for the individual).
  • Performance Technique, i.e how to feel in control on stage/stage presence. 
  • Microphone Technique, (i.e how to use the mic as  a tool for interpretation and how to make best use of it for your own personal sound and approach). 
  • The relationship between the accompanist and the singer in a duo situation.
  • How to lead a rythm section.
  • How to be clear and in control in a rehearsal situation and on the band stand.
